Discover 7 Must-Visit Spots in Vung Tau – Right Next to Sunbeam Homestay 🌊📸
Are you looking for a place to de-stress, to “heal” after exhausting working days? Vung Tau is the answer we want to share with you! Just over an hour away from Saigon by coach, this beautiful coastal city has a hundred reasons to visit. Let us tell you 7 reasons you simply can’t refuse!
1. The Lonely Tree at Dreamy Bai Dua 🌿

Bai Dua (also known as Bai Lang Du) lies between Bai Truoc and Bai Sau, on the western side of Nui Nho (Small Mountain). The name “Bai Dua” comes from the wild pandan trees growing all over the mountain slopes – a plant whose fragrance, like sweet-scented sticky rice, perfumes the whole area. The highlight here is the “lonely” pandan tree stretching out towards the sea – an ultra-cool photo background you definitely have to check in at!

We dropped by Bai Dua in the afternoon, when the golden sunlight stretched across the sea. Locals say watching the sunset here is an unforgettable experience – sadly we ran into an afternoon shower so we couldn’t admire it, but in return the scenery of Bai Dua after the rain was just as breathtakingly beautiful!

2. The Oldest Lighthouse in Southeast Asia 🗼

Located on the summit of Nui Nho (Tao Phung Mountain) at an altitude of 170m, the Vung Tau lighthouse is one of the lighthouses with the longest history in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. With its cylindrical architecture 18m tall and pure white paint, it is a symbol you can’t miss when visiting this coastal city.
We went up to the lighthouse in the afternoon but a bit too late to climb to the top. Our advice is to arrive early so you can admire the panoramic view of the city from above!

3. Bai Sau – The Longest Beach in Vung Tau 🏖️

Bai Sau (or Bai Thuy Van) stretches 8km – it is the longest beach in Vung Tau and also the most popular one. The sand is even and gently sloping, and it’s safer than Bai Truoc, making it suitable for families with young children. Along the shore are hundreds of hotels, guesthouses and bustling food services.
Especially, our Sunbeam Homestay is right on the front of Thuy Van Street, just a few steps from Bai Sau – you can walk out to the beach for a swim anytime!
4. Cong Troi – Heaven’s Gate on Earth 🌉

Located in the Mui Nghinh Phong tourist area (No. 1 Ha Long Street), Cong Troi (Heaven’s Gate) has been a super hot check-in spot recently. The brilliant golden gate opens onto a vast sea-and-sky vista behind it – just step in and you’ll instantly have some incredibly “artistic” shots!
5. Mui Nghinh Phong – “One of a Kind” 🌊

Mui Nghinh Phong – “welcoming the wind” – is a cape stretching to the south of the Vung Tau peninsula, where the wind blows all year round. It forms two large bays with two famous swimming beaches: Bai Vong Nguyet (O Quan) and Bai Huong Phong (Bai Dua).
We also tried to find the “million-like” steps we’d seen online, but unfortunately the cafe leading to them had closed for safety reasons. Instead, we got to admire Bai Vong Nguyet with its crystal-clear water. A small note: the waves here are quite big and there are whirlpools, so you should only come here to enjoy the breeze, not to swim!
6. Make a Wish at Christ the King Statue ✝️

The Christ the King statue (Christ with outstretched arms) stands on the 176m-high summit of Tao Phung Mountain – people say that if you stand on the Lord’s arms and pray, every sincere wish comes true. To reach your dreams, you’ll have to climb 777 stone steps.
We climbed up at sunny noon, resting our tired legs beside fragrant frangipani trees along the way. Our tip: go before 12 noon or after 2 pm so you can get inside the statue and stand on the Lord’s arms to admire the poetic sea of Vung Tau!
7. Interesting Cafes ☕

☕ The Coffee House
Located at 5 Ba Cu, this is the most beautiful The Coffee House we’ve ever visited. Two floors with many different spaces, from indoor to airy outdoor seating. Glass windows overlooking the green trees, blooming bougainvillea trellises – a “picture-perfect” background!
🍸 Milla Nakedsoul
A bar – cafe once famous for its sea view sunsets, now relocated to 151 Ba Cu. Even without a direct sea view, the new Milla still keeps its cozy, rustic atmosphere with a wall full of ocean vibes. Drop by in the evening, order some cold beers with snacks, listen to music – a perfect “chill” night!
🏡 Bohemiens
Located at 155/2 Ba Cu, Bohemiens is a quiet “hideaway” cafe for you. With its vintage style and antique items like first-generation TVs, sewing machines and cameras – it takes you back to childhood memories. Prices are super “easy on the wallet”, from just 15,000 – 35,000 VND!
